The research projects leverage the College’s state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. These facilities provide access to in-demand technologies, as well as cutting-edge opportunities to support the continued growth and innovation capacity of our partner organizations. Together we power innovation through partnerships, research and advanced technology.

The Innovation Hub fosters creative integrated learning experiences for student interactions between each other, faculty, industry, and the community, providing students with opportunities for developing innovative solutions to solve challenges posed by industry, the community, and through entrepreneurial activities.

Research & Innovation Centres

Centre for Advanced Manufacturing

This Centre provides the capacity to conduct projects on Industry 4.0 technologies. Labs within the Centre are dedicated to Robotics, Materials Science and Additive Manufacturing, and Simulation and Visualization. In addition, the Centre utilizes Smart Manufacturing technologies such as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), the College 5G network, and data analytics. The goal of the Centre is to enhance the capabilities of the local manufacturing industry and to train the next generation workforce on Industry 4.0 technologies.

Centre for Automobility Technologies

This Centre provides the capacity to conduct projects related to technologies for the safe transport of people and goods with the focus being Connected, Autonomous, Cybersecure, and Electric vehicles. The goal of the Centre is to provide companies with the laboratory space to test their products, develop innovative ideas for the next generation of mobility, and to build a talent pipeline for the industry.

Centre for Community Health and Wellness

This Centre provides the capacity to conduct projects to address community health and social innovation. Projects focus on assisting vulnerable populations, applying data strategies to those populations, and providing technological solutions. The goal of this Centre is to service the community through interprofessional engagement of various social, health, and technical fields for the betterment of society.

Dr. Peter Wawrow currently holds the position of Director of Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at St. Clair College. He is responsible for successfully establishing and managing a research program at the College, by engaging local industry to work with College researchers and students through publicly funded research projects. These grants have allowed a closer engagement between the College, industry, and the community, resulting in elevated student learning experiences and improving the economic development and innovation of local industry and organizations.

John Lopez currently holds the position of Program Manager, Research and Innovation at St. Clair College, where his role is to conduct efficient and effective management of applied research and innovation projects. He is responsible for reporting to internal and external stakeholders, managing tasks to oversee researcher selection and on boarding, as well as managing project timelines, assuring research teams are aligned with meeting proposed milestone deliverables on time, on budget and on quality. Thus supporting the College in contributing to industry-relevant student learning opportunities, advanced classroom and research capacities, and regional economic growth.
